The Local does not actively pursue, monitor or track Unemployment Insurance Claims, Canada Pension or Social Assistance Claims.  If you are claiming benefits, and this is to a WSIB Claim (Workplace Injuries) or SunLife Disability Claim (DI), we may be able to help.  Contact the Representative handling your claim for assistance.

You should go immediately to the nearest Canada Employment Centre to apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits.  Do not wait for your separation slip (R.O.E.) in order to do this, as you may end up waiting for a long time for Canada Post Corporation to issue one to you. The time you take before applying does not count toward your two week waiting period. You maybe disqualified if you do not apply right away, you will probably be disqualified if you have been suspended or discharged, apply anyway and inform this office if you are denied benefits.  We will help you if you have problems and handle the appeal if needed.  If you want to appeal contact the Local Office.

The employer is supposed to supply you with a separation slip (R.O.E.) within 5 days.

We can direct you to those that can help you.  Call 416-412-1100 for assistance.
