Grievances comprise a large part of the business of the Local and are generally the greatest concern to the members of the Local.

This is a brief description of Grievance / Arbitration service available to members.

Filing Grievances

bulletIf you feel that the employer has violated your rights under the Collective Agreement, you are entitled to file a grievance.  You have 25 working days from the date of the incident to have this grievance submitted to the employer.  You must allow the Local time to process a grievance and we encourage you to submit the information as soon as possible.
bulletGrievances Hearings are held on Wednesday Mornings at 280 Progress Ave., two weeks after the Typed Form is submitted to the Employer by the Local office.  If you wish to attend your grievance hearing, please indicate this on your Grievance Investigation Fact sheet.  The Employer is responsible with providing you with a copy of the typed grievance and the reply.
bulletAfter the Employer denies the Grievance at the First Level, it will most likely be scheduled for arbitration.  It will then be about four months until it is heard at arbitration.
bulletWhen there is a final decision in your grievance, the Local Grievance Officer will inform you in writing.
