PRESS RELEASE

November 22, 2018

At 06:00 AM this morning Mike Duquette, Scarborough Local President announced while at 256 Harwood Ave., new Strike Locations in the GTA, “Today, two physical locations in the Scarborough Local are On Strike until they are authorized to return.  This Strike began at 12:01AM today.  There are about 260 employees in these locations in the Urban Unit and the RSMC Unit.

Mike Duquette added “The employees in Ajax actually walked off the job about 10 hours earlier than planned.  They walked off the job when the Minister introduced the motion to force us back to work at 2PM.  Forcing us back to work will not improve the situation at Canada Post.  Employees are very unhappy with the Trudeau Government and will be looking to see how MP’s in their riding vote on this bill.”

Mike Duquette went on to say, “This is the eight day in a row there has been a Strike in the areas of the Scarborough Local in the GTA.  Approximately 111,000 addresses of all kinds in residential areas and business areas in Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Brooklin, and Claremont, will receive NO MAIL TODAY.”

Mike Duquette also said, “There are NO Tracker Trailers of backed up mail anywhere in the Scarborough Local, and we service 1.4 million addresses in the Eastern GTA and dependent areas.  In these 16 facilities there are no backed-up trailers of mail.”

“This kind of activity will continue in the future until our issues are resolved.” Brother Duquette concluded.

Locations On Strike:
