CPC’S DEMANDS!!!

PAID LEAVE PROVISIONS

This is pretty easy; Canada Post wants to take everything possible away from you!

Currently in Group 2 and to a degree in Group 1, employees can superimpose Annual Leave when they take more than a complete Block. Canada Post can then use a $17 an hour Temp directly on the absence as long as it is a 4 week assignment. Canada Post finds this too expensive and wants to eliminate Superimposing of Vacation.

Currently employees in Group 1 and Group 2 who work overtime can bank the time and can take Compensatory Leave in lieu of being paid overtime. This impacts your taxes and your time off. Canada Post finds this too costly to cover “if” they grant it, so they want to eliminate it completely, you have no choice, and you will get paid.

Currently Full Time employees in all Groups who take a week of Annual Leave which includes a Statutory Holiday can bank the extra day and can take it at a later time with 10 days notice. Canada Post finds this too costly to cover, so they want to eliminate it completely. You can take the following Monday and cannot bank it for future use.

Currently employees in all Groups reach the maximum pay rate in seven years. Canada Post finds this too costly; you will have to work between nine and ten years to reach the maximum pay rate.

Currently most employees in Canada get a half hour paid meal break for Health & Safety reasons. Canada Post finds this too costly, and proposes increasing your work load by 30 minutes with no increase in pay, they will eliminate the 5 minute wash-up prior to the lunch. You will working an 8.5 hour work day.

Currently employees in all Groups can be eligible for pre-retirement leave based on years of service and age. Canada Post finds this too costly and wants to steal five weeks pay from you by eliminating pre-retirement leave.

Currently employees in all Groups are eligible for seven weeks of Annual after 28 years of service. Canada Post finds this too costly and wants to eliminate the 7th week of vacation leave. In addition they want to alter when you get the fourth, fifth and sixth week. You would get 3 weeks of vacation with less than 10 years of service, 4 weeks between 10 – 17 years of service, 5 weeks between 18 – 28 years of service and 6 weeks after 28 years of service. If you currently get three weeks of Annual Leave, your cumulative loss until 35 years of service is 24 weeks of Annual Leave!!!!

Between the Pre-retirement leave and Annual Leave, CPC wants you to give up over a half year of pay!!!!

In Solidarity
