October 27, 2013

On October 16, 2013 the National Union filed an application under Clause 9.87 asking for a “Cease and Desist Order” concerning the employers proposal to merge the East & West Post Offices and move people around.

Consultations concerning the changes have not gone well and the parties do not agree. The process under a Cease and Desist Application” is very fast and a hearing is expected in the next two weeks. Arbitrator Tom Jolliffe is assigned the case and is well respected and has extensive knowledge and history with the parties.

If the application for an interlocutory order is successful, the employers changes scheduled to take place on October 20, 2013 under Clause 6.05 would be put on hold until a hearing on the merits of the case takes place.

At this time there is no response from the employer.

Once there is more information available we will provide it to you.
