NATIONAL CONSULTATIONS

On August 31, 2011 there were National Consultations concerning Postal Transformation and the movement of the MSC work at the YDC to Letter Carriers in Scarborough and Toronto Locals. The Union indicated there were some flaws in the employer’s plans and more meetings will be scheduled in the near future.

What was significant for employees at the YDC was the employer’s position that there would be NO MSC’s at YDC and the Parcel Distribution Hub would be gone completely. If you are a MSC at YDC, by the end of 2013 your assignment is gone, no one will be left. The employer would not provide any information on the P04’s, GLT’s, or EL’s, would there still be a parcel sort operation?

NEW RESTRUCTURE SCHEDULE

On August 19, 2011 there were National Consultations in Ottawa and I raised the issues around Ajax, Pickering & Whitby.  CPC assured us nothing was final, notices were to be sent and supervisors were speaking out of turn. A mere 5 working days later, CPC issues a new Restructure Schedule indicating Whitby would be getting a Postal Transformation restructure and will start getting sequenced mail in the summer of 2012. Duh………

Also on the new Restructure Schedule are a number of other Scarborough Stations, as per the Chart below. Generally it can be assumed, that there are some real estate deals in the works, and the stations below could move and / or be combined. Generally it can be assumed you will get sequenced mail prior to the volume count, which indicates changes will take place prior.
