April 18, 2011

On March 29, 2011 close to 900 Postal Workers of the Scarborough Local met at 3 meetings to give the National Union a STRIKE MANDATE if needed. There were 18 “NO” votes! The local voted:

in favour.

This is the largest turn out in 35 years and the highest “YES” vote ever! It shows that our efforts to inform you of the situation, meetings we have been having, and our early morning information pickets, have been successful in explaining what is at stake. We saw initial problems in Scarborough D, then Depot 11 was a disaster and in the Press, and today Don Mills, Toronto O, Toronto R and the YDC were hit with the same problems, and it is just a taste of things to come. We have not seen the effect of sequencing the mail yet!

The next few weeks will be rough, we are down to the wire. I am encouraged by your solidarity and support. I am proud to say I am your voice and that I represent the Scarborough Local Members. We are one of the best Locals in the country, because of you!

In Solidarity
