“On March 29, 2011, at 8.30 AM, 3.00 PM, and 7.00 PM, the Scarborough Local will be conducting a strike vote. The Scarborough Local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, is the fourth largest local in the country. The Scarborough Local Executive is unanimous in recommending the membership vote YES for a strike mandate”, said Mike Duquette, Local President.

The location of the vote is at the DELTA HOTEL, Toronto East, Toronto A & B Rooms, 2035 Kennedy Rd. N., Scarborough. Most members will attend the 3.00 PM meeting / vote.

Issues to be discussed include the recent media stories about mail delivery problems in Scarborough and other parts of the country, along with Sick Leave and Pension Plans.

Denis Lemelin, the National President will be attending all the meetings.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is projected to be in a Lockout/Strike position by approximately the last week of April, 2011. The federal government may have to intervene in some manner. The NDP and the Greens rely more heavily on the mail than the Conservatives or Liberals in a Federal Election.
