January 5, 2011

On January 5 2011, Canada Post provided the updated Postal Transformation Restructure Schedule for 2011 and 2012. Some Scarborough stations will see sequenced mail to existing routes in late 2011. Sequenced mail will reduce the number of hours required to sort the mail in the station, there will be a reduction in Group 1 extensions until the restructures in 2012.

In 2012, a number of stations will be restructured, which will result in the loss of LC routes and the new delivery model being introduced. There will also be losses at the YDC as a result of the movement of parcels back to the letter carriers. When the restructures are implemented, most final sort, DRS work will return to SCLPP.

The following dates may change/delayed slightly.

JUNE 2012

  • Markham
  • Unionville
  • SEPTEMBER 2012

  • Ajax
  • Pickering
  • Scarborough C
  • West Hill
  • Malvern
  • OCTOBER 2012

  • Don Mills
  • Toronto “O”
  • Toronto “R”
  • This will result in job losses in the range of 200 – 250 positions in all groups in the local. I can not tell you what bidding process will be used, as the new collective agreement would apply in all likelihood and today’s rules will change.

There will be future bulletins, consultations and special meetings as events unfold.
