MEDICAL RENUMERATION PAYMENT

The local has just received a memo from the National office advising, that the payment from the medical renumeration grievance (OHIP) will - be paid to all employees on strength on the November 22, 2001 pay.

The payment is based on the type of OHIP coverage you had during the period of January 1990 to July 1992, based on the monthly premium rate. The rates quoted below are for the province of Ontario only.

EMPLOYEE   EMPLOYEE WITH  EMPLOYEE WITH
ONLY 1 DEPENDANT MORE THAN ONE
$9.89 $19.78 $24.72

Thus, for example, if you had coverage for family (more than 1 dependant) you are entitled to a payment of $24.72 per month x 30 months = $741.60.

In addition to this amount, you will also receive the accrued interest based on the applicable Bank of Canada interest rates.

For those not on strength, the employer is to provide an application for payment. Payments will be forwarded once the applications have been returned and verified by the employer.
