Parcel Model Update

Summary

There are many activities taking place concurrently to lay the groundwork for the Parcel Model.  This notice outlines some of the key changes underway right now.  This is for your information only.

Additional details

Construction of the new sorter at the West Parcel Hub is well underway, and is on schedule.  Sampling activities are also underway at the same hub and will continue through April.  Some of you may have seen employees working at keying stations on the West Parcel Dispatch Docks (WPDD).  These employees are keying postal codes to generate sequencing labels in support of the sampling.

Delivery Superintendent Luigi Damico has joined the project group to represent Delivery concerns.

The development of loops continues for the three parcel hubs.  There will be approximately twenty-nine loops, fifteen at York Delivery Centre (YDC), eleven at the West Parcel Hub, and three at the 1 Yonge St. Hub.  These are still in development and are subject to change.

A Lead Generation Program will be introduced at the parcel hubs.  A form has been developed that drivers can fill out to help support the building of the parcel business.  The form should be filled out and submitted if:

·         The driver notices that we only pick up lettermail when previously we picked up premium products from an existing customer.

·         The driver notices one of our competitors picking up premium service items from our existing customers or potential customers.

This is your opportunity to help Canada Post gain new business and recover lost business.

There has been a request for clarification to the answer to the question, Are we going to be moving from the 1 Yonge St. location to the York Delivery Centre (YDC) or West Transportation location in the near future?"  This question was answered in the March 17 Q&A document.  To clarify, although it is not anticipated that there will be any movement of work, we will be in a better position to answer once we have the loops and staffing profile in place.

If you have questions about the Parcel Model, you can email gtapdmp@canadapost.ca, or submit your question at one of the question boxes provided at the parcel hubs.  Answers to questions will be posted for the benefit of all employees affected by the Parcel Model implementation.
