Security

Management is still waiting Ottawa’s response on the security measures to be considered for YDC. The Union suggested that we should look at the lock down procedures for the facility. They indicated that the Corporation should put the process in place in case of a lock down in the YDC facility area.  The Corporation responded that they would follow up with the management team at the Scarborough Delivery Centre as the YDC and 280 Progress are in close proximity. Aug 21, 2009 there was no new update from management side at this time. Union asked again to develop a plan just for YDC in case of lock down at YDC.

Equal Opportunity Lists

The Union has discussed the power point package provided by Mike Duquette with Lance Waine.  The Union has agreed to make some final revisions and submit back to the management teams.

The Corporation agrees to distribute and present the package to the Team Leaders as a guide. The Corporation will implement this new format. The Union suggested we should include the local shop steward in the implementation process, in case anyone has any questions. Management is working on to update existing equal opportunity lists as per template provided last month.

Revised MSC Training

Management is waiting to hear back from the Health and Safety team in Head Office. Fred will follow up on this.

Manulife PPD

The Union stated that they don’t necessarily agree with the process.  The review process of old PPD identifications for employees concerns them.  They believe it will impact the Article 54 process. The Union further requests a copy of the Job Suitability Tool (JST).

Management advised the Union that they are not in receipt of any new reviews.  Further discussions to take place at the Article 54 meetings. No new updates available at this time on this.

Flex Drivers

The Union states that management is not following proper process when assigning mail to flex drivers.  They believe they are being asked to work more than 4 hours outside of their loops. Management requested more specific information to investigate this further, as they do not believe they are giving Flex drivers more than 4 hours outside of their loops.   The Union suggested that the Corporation should schedule a separate consultation to come up with the rate of delivery for larger sequence number areas. Union has concerns on elimination of deliveries on some tours in PDSL, and requested to stop this practice immediately.

Appendix AA training

The Union requested updates for the Appendix AA training.

Management advised that 16 employees require the training. Training will begin in early July 2009.  There will be 3 sessions delivered to cover off the 16 employees.  Not all will attend at once. Three sessions have been completed for this training, and management agree to schedule all new hire PO4 employees for this training in the future. Training has been completed for all PO 4 employees and will trained all new PO4 employees as they come on board.

Safety Shoes

The Union asked if the entire facility (YDC) is going to be designated as a steel toe area.  The concern is that there is rolling stock and racks on the floor.

Management is in the process of reviewing the matter with the Health and Safety Team. Dave Roberts (safety office YDC) will be looking into this next week and will provide the updates in LJOSH meeting next week.

Annual leave coverage

The Union is concerned that there aren’t enough information provided to the relief drivers to pick their selection. The Corporation will follow up on the open block bid assignments to ensure open block bids and annual leave bids are aligned together to avoid any confusions. The Corporation will develop a plan to implement weekly annual coverage bid and communicate to union before the implementation.

Pay Issues

Union wants to clarify to which payments of sick or over time are recoverable 100% or 10%. Union requested that these matters should be escalated to upper management on timely manner to ensure resolutions to pay issues would come faster.

HRDC Yearly Report

The union has requested the HRDC yearly report on all IOD for this year. The Corporation will follow up with safety officer to provide this report by next meeting.

PDSL Daily Reports

The Union has requested to management to provide Daily Load Summary reports from PDSL daily. The Corporation agree to send copy of report electronically to union on weekly basis.

Bar Charts

The Union asked the update on bar charts for this year in regards to how far be they done. The Corporation stated that bar charts for this year will be done by end of next week by August 28, 2009. The Corporation agree to do the bar charts on weekly basis or daily basis if possible to avoid any delays.
