The letter dated April 16, 2009 notified Regional CUPW and Scarborough Local of the intent to delete full time group 1 position number 82046989 at Unionville and create two new part time group 1 positions.

The current rotation of duty schedule, accounting of hours used for 2008 and 2009 year to date and current and proposed staffing profile was provided in advance of the consultation.

The above information was also made available at the consultation.

The intent of this change is to have more available resources to meet critical processing window.

The scheduled hours of work is 20 hours weekly, Monday to Friday with a shift of 04:00 to 08:00 hours.

The union stated their objection to the deletion of the full time position and will file a grievance.

J. Coe advised that although an effective date was not provided, if staffing is approved for the creation of these two part time positions we would like to meet the deadline for the next Group 1 postings of assignments.

The union agreed and added that there is a requirement to staff positions prior to the bids being posted.
