The Union asked if the employee’s at the YDC were in compliance with respect to the dock doors being kept locked.

Management stated that the supervisors have been tasked with double checking the doors at the end of each shift as well as through out their shifts.  The employees have been compliant.

Equal Opportunity Lists the

The Union would like to adjust the proposed power point draft that was provided to Management at a discussion held on April 1, 2009.  On April 16, 2009 the Union and Management reviewed the proposal provided by Mike Duquette.  It was agreed that further review would have to take place with Lance Waine.

The Union would like to adjust the proposed draft to reflect that when an employee is asked to work 2 hours overtime prior to shift and 2 hours after shift it should be recorded on 2 separate overtime lists.

Both Parties agree to consult on the matter of the Equal Ops lists and the Article 39.07 Backfills once the proposed Staffing Profile has been provide to the Union from Management..

Flex Drivers

The Union expressed concern with the Flex tours having to work 8 hours of work everyday.  The Flex drivers are informing the Union that there are consistent attempts to work beyond 4 hours.

Management advised the Union that it’s all based on the load summary and the adjustments are being done.

Revised MSC Training

Management is waiting for a list that is being compiled by the Human Rights department in order to follow through with training the employees that have not received the training.

New Business

The Union expressed concern over letters that are being sent out the employees who have documented PPD’s.

The Corporation (OAC’s) have been tasked with identifying employees who have PPD’s on file. The intention is that Manulife will conduct a review of the documented restrictions in order to update the files.

The Union enquired as to why the Easter holiday was reduced from 8 hours to 6 hours.

Management informed the Union of this change 4 days in advance.

Phil Veschio from Tech Services was introduced to the CUPW Union.

The Union advised Phil that he was copied on the agenda as a courtesy and may be required to attend the monthly meetings from time to time.

Phil advised the Union his staffing profile.  EL 5 Phil Wilson is rotating shifts depending on the

Tasks that need to be completed.  MAM 11 Ralph Fisher work #1 Shift.  The vacant position will be scheduled to work #3 Shift.

The Union asked about the Appendix T out of the YDC?  What about the annual leave bidding, are they bidding out of YDC on their own?

Management wasn’t aware of the Appendix T project that has been blessed.  However, it was mentioned that an Apprenticeship Program was discussed with Ottawa.   The annual leave bidding is done out of the YDC.

The Union raised concerns with Management (Supervisors) doing the work of a Tech Services employee.

The Union was informed that a Roles of Conduct has been submitted to the Management team at YDC.  This package contains information that outlines what the operations team can and cannot do.  Operations are the owner of the equipment.  They are trained to start up the machinery. Maintenance is responsible for ensuring that the e-stop has been pulled when looking to address an issue on the machine.  The all clear must be called prior to re starting the equipment.  If the process is not followed the employees are subject to discipline.

Both parties agree to meet on May 20, 2009 @ 9 AM.
