Carded Items

As a follow up to last months meeting Management advised that the RMO has set the boundaries for walk 254 Morningside and all products should be going to 254.

The Union stated that C&D is not aware of this matter.  Customer complaints are ongoing. The Union requested a copy of the boundaries via email.

Both parties agreed to follow up on the ongoing complaints to resolve the matter.

The Union requests that Management provide details about moving RPO’s from MSC to Letter Carriers.  RPO 5762 to be specific. What about the RPO in Thornhill, is it being moved from YDC to Unionville?

Management is not aware of this and will follow up on the movement if any. Followed up with John Salter over the phone and followed up with email on March 24, 2009 to confirm that none of the RPO clearance has been moved around. And he confirmed that nothing was moved away from YDC.

Security

Dan Haller and Therrin Veno have conducted the Treat Risk Assessment.  Details have not been outlined to Management to date.  Management advised that we would be addressing the in house issues immediately.   The Supervisors will be conducting mini meetings to inform the employees of the rules surrounding the dock doors.  It will be a Health and Safety infractions to leave the dock doors open or unlocked.

Bar Charts

The Union states that the Bar Charts have been on the minutes for 5 months.  They are showing a reduction of 6 and we propose 4.  Management was improperly excluding absences, where there was available relief.  Chit has confirmed to union on March 18, 2009 that we will delete 4 relief positions at YDC.  It was further sated that the Union has not been receiving the Bar Charts a monthly basis.

Management agrees to review and follow up with Cheryl who is responsible for managing the Bar Charts.

Term List

The Union acknowledges receiving the term lists, but request the assignments to be documented.

Management explained that the format the Union provided was used and provided on February 9th, 2007.  An additional list is being sent out today.  Management will ensure that Learie is copied on the material.

Equal Opportunity Lists

The Union provides Management with documents in a power point draft stage. The list is compared to the one that Management had provided to the Union.  The Union states that the lists are incorrect.

Management requested that consultation take place to correct the format.  During the consultation Management would like to discuss zeroing out the lists.

Both parties agree to consult on the matter April 1 @ 10 AM.

The Union adds that they are still receiving complaints about the daily Loop and Stat Holidays list.

Accident Investigation

Management expresses the improvement that has been noted with the accident investigation.  95% of the investigations are on time with the Union’s involvement.  It was noted that there was a near miss recorded that will be discussed at grievance hearings.

Flex Drivers

The Union advised that they have been filing grievances because of a guy who is covering a Flex Tour.  He is working 8 hours everyday whether the volumes are there or not.   The Union further suggests that the rates need to be worked out.  The rate for the RPO and the rate per parcel. In some instances you have people going from one end of the city to the other.  Incorrect calculations are being made and it should be mapped out in PDSL.  What should be happening is the offer is made by equal opportunity to the part timers, 2 or 4 hours.

Management states that this should not be happening and will advise the RMO.

The Union states that Article 50 and the Ride alongs have to have a Union observer involvement.

Management acknowledges.  252 will be looked at to verify the issue.  261 have been completed.

The Union would like 132 and 419 looked into.  251 have been brought forth because the Union believes that an FSA has been added since the restructure.

RMO to follow up.

Revised MSC Training

Management states that the new hires are getting the required training.

The Union would like for the clerks to receive the same training.

Management agreed to compile a list of individuals that have not been trained.

New Business

The Union asked Management if the 39.07 Backfills were being done properly at the YDC.

Management advised that there had been some errors identified.  There are currently 4 backfills.

Both parties agreed to review during the April consultation.

The Union expressed concern with the way supervisors were handling horseplay issue that involved MMHE equipment.

Management will be sure to meet with the supervisor to review the policy and privacy issues when brought to their attention.
