CONTROL CENTRE INFORMATION & NUMBER FOR RSMC

Management has received and distributed to most locations, pending for WBC.

STOUFVILLE-UPDATE CALLS

Updates have been completed.

OVER ASSESSED ROUTES

One route remains over assessed in Stouffville, RR2, at 9.02 hours. Revision to be completed within ten days and sent to the Transition Committee, RR 4 to receive additional work.

In Gormley, RR1 may be over assessed in actual time, however is evaluated under. Review in early 2009 with union, G. Pratt.

APOC SORTING RSMC ROUTES

Both parties will confirm if a master list exists with “on-call relief” and does a position control exist where the information and utilization exists to allow for canvassing when required. Investigation reveals that a master list does not exist; only lists within individual postal units where on call relief exist. This will be reviewed and a decision made as to the feasibility of creating and maintaining a master list.

Management confirmed that they are not always aware of uncovered routes and in their experience often temporary employees on the bench are not interested, (S. Hardy). The union stated that they have had success in obtaining volunteers. The union stated that with being at other means even temporary employees on the bench at the YDC could be canvassed.

MAPLE

S. Dewar is now the manager for Maple. K. Davidson to forward copies of the two outstanding grievances so as a first level hearing can be arranged. S. Dewar to be apprised that copies of LJOSH minutes are to be forwarded to the Scarborough union.

UNILEVER

Mailing has been cancelled.

UNIONVILLE

Management stated that a new location for Will D 3 is underway, if a location is found, and then potentially movement of portions (FSA) from Unionville may occur. The Corporation will continue to maintain the Unionville facility.

NEW BUSINESS

AT HOME TRAINING

It has been confirmed that from September to December 2008 self-study training materials will be sent to employees homes. RSMC who have not received training will have six weeks to finish the course and return in a preaddressed envelope. Employees will receive a fixed compensation of $256.00 by a national administrator.

PAYROLL EXCEPTION REPORT

The union raised the issue of late receipt of monies when exception payments are required. In some instances it has taken six to seven weeks for an employee to receive monies, employees are paid monthly, when exceptions occur and an Adhoc payment is required adjustment should be within 48 hours, not two to three weeks. K. Vanderploeg was able to obtain quick resolution, wish a representative from payroll to explain why adjustments cannot be actioned in a timely manner.

Management stated that the new report is sent directly to the Director, and then cascaded to supervisory staff through the managers; there are too many supervisors/locations to do a distribution any other way. The employee’s ID number and contract number are required to submit for payment. The union requests to know what processes are in place or can be put into place to alleviate this situation.

RIGHT HAND VEHICLES

The union stated that they had heard that right hand vehicles were to be tested in the GTA; management stated that they had heard this may occur in West Delivery. The union questioned whether employees will be trained and issued a VOP. L. Waine to investigate and respond.

IDENTIFICATION OF ON-CALL RELIEF & HELPERS

The union requested a listing of the on-call relief and also a listing of “helpers” and their hiring date. This is important given that costs are the responsibility of the employer prior to July, 2008, after July, 2008, shared 50-50.

Managers will provide the information.

RACKS-WBC

The union stated that employees at WBC are provided the old metal racks despite having twice the volume of Urban employees. There were two potential injuries in the past week, when will newer equipment be obtained. The union also stated that a SAIR was required when a rack tipped onto a RSMCs vehicle causing damage.

AJAX CASE

J. Wineck to follow up on whether equipment can be obtained from storage, subsequently it has been confirmed that equipment has been ordered.

AJAX SIGNAGE

The union stated that six or seven RSMC required either roof mounted lights and/or signs. J. Wineck to address.

Next meeting November 12, 2008.
