120 POC Mail Volume Index
Data Capture
Background
The 120 POC Mail Volume Index is replacing the
collection of mail volume by product stream. Delivered mail is to be counted on
120 POC for a full year (48 to 54 weeks). The single CMVI per Depot will be
replaced with a MVI for S/L, another for O/S and a third for PCI. Data capture
is necessary for the S/L and O/S, however the PCI data will be captured from the
LS system based on out for Delivery Scans.

All mail delivered to the
pre-selected points of call are to be counted. The following is to be
counted and included in the S/L and O/S Mail Volume Index:

POC is count is missed |
Average the day’s data and enter or previous day’s
Example: Missed POC count on Monday, Average all
Monday volumes for the previous 4 weeks and use that for the day. Be sure
to record it in the comments |

POC becomes vacant |
Remove it from the sampling. Up to 1/3 of the POCs can
be lost before the sampling becomes statistically invalid. |

A envelope of Redirected items are received |
Open the envelop to ensure the address is for a
selected POC and count the individual pieces and record |
|
If the customer on a POC is away for an extended period
and submits a temporary redirect? |
Count the mail that is temporarily being redirected for
that POC. |

The regular person who counts the mail is away. |
Relief or another assigned individual to count the mail
on the 120 POC for the length of the absence.
|
PCI data capture will be through the LS system. Therefore
it is important that all Out for Delivery Scans are captured.
